EXCEL 365: Introduction to Power Pivot – 12 pm Toronto, 9 am Vancouver, 10 am Calgary

Format: HANDS-ON ONLINE WORKSHOP. This is a Live Workshop with an Instructor. Participants will work hands-on on practice data, and interact with an instructor online.
Duration: 2 Hours in 1 module of 2 hours. Participants will work on examples hands-on with the instructor

What will be covered
- Revisiting a key feature – Dynamic Tables – what they are and how to get them or create them in Excel
- A brief introduction to Structured References – a key concept for using Measures and DAX functions
- Exploring what is Power Pivot and where to find it in Excel. (See below for checking if you have Power Pivot)
- An Introduction to the Data Model – understand the difference between Range data and a Data Model and the benefits it brings in handling large voluminous data.
- Explore the Power Pivot Interface and understand the nuances of constructing a Data Model through relationships and what is meant by Schema
- Learn how to create a Pivot Table using Power Pivot and getting data from different data sets
- Explore some new and powerful features included in Pivot Tables created like this including Distinct Count, Calendars, and Asymmetric Reporting
Important Instructions:
• Office365 will be used in the workshop demonstration. Participants are welcome to use older versions, but significant differences may exist and where possible the instructor will mention suitable workarounds.
• IMPORTANT: This workshop needs you to have Power Pivot in your version of Excel if you want to try out the examples with the Instructor. If you do not have it, you can still take the workshop but you will not be able to practice along with the instructor. • Essential requirements are a Computer with broadband internet access, audio headset or speakers, and working copy of Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office Starter Edition will not be adequate.
